Sabertooth Tiger

○ Saber-toothed tigers, also known as Smilodon, lived during the Pleistocene epoch, approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago.

○ They had long, curved canine teeth, reaching lengths of up to 7 inches.

○ Saber-toothed tigers were not closely related to modern tigers but belonged to a distinct lineage.

○ They were apex predators, hunting large herbivores like mammoths and bison.

megalodon

○ The Megalodon, one of the largest predators, could reach lengths of up to 60-70 feet (18-21 meters).

○ It existed approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs.

○ Megalodon likely primarily preyed on large marine mammals like whales and dolphins.

○ Despite its dominance, Megalodon went extinct around 3.6 million years ago, possibly due to various environmental factors.

titanoboa

○ Titanoboa, the largest snake ever known to have existed, lived approximately 60-58 million years ago during the Paleocene epoch.

○ It could reach lengths of up to 42 feet and weighed as much as 2,500 pounds.

○ Titanoboa thrived in the swamps of ancient South America, where temperatures were significantly warmer than today.

○ As a top predator, Titanoboa likely fed on large prey such as fish, turtles, and crocodilians.

giganotosaurus

○ Gigantosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs, measuring up to 40 feet in length and weighing around 8 tons, making it larger than Tyrannosaurus rex.

○ They lived approximately 99 to 97 million years ago, in what is now South America.

○ As a carnivore, they likely preyed upon large herbivorous dinosaurs like the long-necked sauropods, as well as other smaller dinosaurs.

○ The first fossils were discovered in the late 20th century in Argentina. Its name, meaning "giant southern lizard," reflects its massive size and geographical origin.
